Today I nearly drowned while trying to unlock my car.
Seriously, I did.
You see, I spent the weekend in the only home town for littlest niece's second birthday and this morning it rained. A lot. So much so that when best work friend and I went to drive over to Spotlight to pick up the balloons for the party, I discovered that the gutter outside my sister's house had overflowed and my card was surrounded by nearly a foot of water. The only way I could get near the door to open it was to take off my shoes and socks and wade through the water, all while it continued to bucket down around me and A just stood there and laughed at me. And then I completely failed to find Pin the Tail on the Donkey and had to settle for Pin the Horn on the Unicorn instead, they'd sold out of the the bags N needed to make out a couple of extra lolly bags and we had to hang around for an hour and a half waiting for the balloons to be ready to collect. Seriously, how hard is it to squirt some helium into a dozen balloons?
Oh yeah, and the rain? It did not stop all morning so I was well and truly drenched by the time I made it home. Thank go for champagne, party pies and profiteroles, that's all I can say.
