All of a sudden I have several new friends.

You wouldn't think that buying a suit would be a hard thing to do, would you? You'd think that reasonably priced business wear would be fairly easy to come by.

You might just be wrong.

I think I tried on every suit in Myer's, David Jones and a handful of small retail outlets today, and do you think I could find one that a) fitted properly, and b) fell within my (paltry) budget?

Of course not.

And since I'm off to T's birthday party tonight and I intend to have one or two martinis, I'm not sure I'll be in any condition to shop for clothes tomorrow. But I'll have to be, because I won't have time between now and Friday to purchase a suitable garment that will convince the PTB at work that I am the right one for the job.

*sigh*

Why is it that when I want to spend money, I can't find anything to buy, and when I'm trying to save, I'm constantly being tempted?

Hmm, I think I'll watch Sports Night for a while and envy Dana's shoes.

Have you tried looking for a separate skirt (or nice pair of trousers - I forget people wear trousers, because I never do, too fat) and a co-ordinating jacket? Might be easier. Might also be hideously more expensive ... I got the job at Nigel's wearing a black shift dress and a very nice tweedy sort of jacket that is actually Judy's. But personally I think I got that job because when he said "And how are you at bullshitting?" I said "I don't know, how'm I doing so far?"

Shoes! Love Felicity Huffman's shoes in that ... whatever the magazine shoot was that caused all the trouble. And the retro swimsuits, too. Mind you. Retouched, much? Don't tell me four 40something women don't have a wobbly bit of thigh among them!

I'm going to have a look in a couple of shops that I didn't try yesterday. And there was one thing that I tied on that wasn't too bad. It just didn't scream 'buy me!' Whispered it more like. I'm possibly making too much of it, but I really want to create a good impression.

Oh, yes, tres glam! And very airbrushed. Also, I love the fact that it's only the other actresses that are being bitched about. Felicity seems to be the only one who isn't acting like a complete diva.
