I went suit shopping today and tried a few things one, but nothing lept out and said "Buy me!" There seems to be a lot of tweed around at the moment, and with the weather the way it is (ridiculously warm for April) I don't much feel like buying tweed. Also, I'm after something that has a more classic feel to it. The current tweedy, shorter-style jackets, while 'funky and with-it!'(sic) won't necessarily be so in six months time. No black, either. I've noticed that quite a lot of black has crept back into my wardrobe after a few years of steering clear of it, and I'm afraid of over-kill. Char-grey would be nice. Maybe with a fine pinstripe. And pants, not a skirt. I feel more comfortable in pants, and since I'm buying this to wear to job interviews, the most important thing is that I feel comfortable.

There's this one shop in the city that I need to check out. They had some really nice stuff last time I popped my head in, and the prices were very reasonable. I might go there tomorrow. If my bike is working, because, grrr, very flat tire today. I took it to the bike shop in Fairfield and the guy fixed it on the spot for me, but I don't think he quite believed me when I said I'd picked up something sharp. If it deflates again I'm not sure how I'm going to get it to my usual bike shop. It's at work and guess how I usually get to work?

Last night on a whim I picked up The Best of Magnum P.I. on DVD at the video shop, and damn, but I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed the show when I was a kid.

Of course it's all a bit twee and cheesy these days, especially when they show nightclub scenes (did people really dance like that in the early eighties?) or have bikini-clad girls running around for no reason. I giggled every time someone used a typwriter, and hello, no mobile phones! And of course Tom Selleck's mustache is always good for a laugh.

But aside from all that, it really is a rather entertaining program, with reasonably involving storylines and surprisingly good writing. I spotted a young Judge Reinhold in a bit part in the pilot, and has Jeff McKay been in everything that Donald Bellisario has ever written or produced?

I think I might add the first season DVDs to my wish list on Amazon.
