You know those times in your life when you wish you'd just kept your mouth shut and sucked it up? I had one of those today. I won't go into details, but it was entirely my fault, and does anyone have a good remedy for foot-in-mouth disease?

Aside from that, I came out ahead when I bet on the winner of the Melbourne Cup! I backed two horses, and while I was very hopeful about the second one, I wasn't so sure that Makybe Diva could pull off the hat trick. But I went for her anyway, simply because I'm a sentimental fool and wanted to see the girl make good. She did, in very spectacular style, and I not only got my money back, I am now $8.00 richer! I'm not sure where my second horse came, but I'm honestly not that fussed.

I must do some study, but first I think I'll go and get some ice cream.
