Note to self: do not attempt to buy clothes three days after Christmas day, especially if you haven't been to gym or ridden your bike in over a week!
As you may have gathered, I didn't buy clothes today, despite spending the better part of the day traipsing around the factory outlet shops in Bridge Road. I did see a couple of pairs of shoes that I liked, but what's the point of shoes if I've got nothing to wear them with? And in all honesty, even if I was feeling all sleek and thin I doubt I would have purchased anyway. Most of the shops had little more than last season's cast-offs (really, Esprit, why on earth did you think that mustard coloured t-shirts would sell??) or new season's stuff that is exactly the same price as they are in the non-outlet stores.
I did get a really good coffee at the plaza, though, which almost made up for all the looking and not buying.
I had better luck when I went up to Victoria Gardens where I bought the first two season of Buffy on DVD for 30% off at K-Mart, a book from Angus and Robertson, another, not quite as great coffee from the cafe opposite the bowling alley, a new sieve because mine is starting to shed bits of wire into the muffin batter, chopping boards so I now have separate ones for meat and vegetables, and a cotton rug for the bathroom, all from Ikea.
Yay for retail therapy!
Tomorrow I need to do groceries, but because I also get paid again and I still have a wad of cash left over from my last pay, I may even go back to Bridge Road and buy the one pair of shoes I really did like, even though I have nothing to wear them with.
New Year's Eve is looming but for once I know exactly what I am going to do. Nothing. That's right, I'm doing nothing on New Years Eve. I am, however, going to a party on New Year's Eve eve, and on New Year's day I am going to Altitude, and daytime dance party for all those people who don't want to have to deal with the crowds and crap of New Year's Eve. I'm rather looking forward to it. I may even buy new shoes *g*
