Today's mail included a lovely penguin card from
aprilmay430, a certified copy of my undergraduate academic transcript from UoB (yeesh, did I ever do ANY homework?) and a very nice letter from my real estate agency informing me that my rent is going up from March next year. Merry Christmas to me, eh?
In far more pleasant news, I finally got around to booking plane tickets to Perth for Easter. Yay! I'm flying over on the 24th and coming home on the 30th. I figured that since I'm going to go all that way I should stay longer than a weekend and as it also happens to be my birthday, what better way to celebrate?
I have a day and a half of work left until I'm on holiday for ten days and I cannot wait until Friday because this has been the most pointless week ever. The university is usually pretty quite in the week before Christmas, but this year its been even more so and the week has draaaaged so very much. It doesn't help that I'm still feeling a bit poorly, or that I'm waiting to find out who my boss will be next year. The only redeeming feature is that the cafe next door to the library is still open (under the old regime it would have closed on Monday) so I don't have schlep over to Baretto's to get coffee in the morning. If I didn't have ready access to decent coffee I'd have called in sick on Monday and not come back until 2008!
Tonight it is hot and muggy and damn uncomfortable. I have no idea how I'm going to get any sleep, except for the fact that I'm exhausted and will probably drop like the dead when I do make it to bed.
I have a bottle of pink champagne in my fridge that I'm trying to ignore. How long do you think I'll last?
In conclusion, ( Casey McCall )
ETA: It's raining now but not any cooler. It's like living in a mangrove swamp, only without the crocodiles.
