I have spent the day being kulcharel at the National Gallery, Victoria, and environs. First up was Persuasion: Fashion in the Age of Jane Austen where I saw many pretty frocks and an outfit worn by Mr C. Firth in the well known BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudiced as the token male contribution. Goodness but Mr Firth is tall!

After the frocks I wandered about some Asian art for a while and poked my head into The Satirical Eye: comedy and critique from Hogarth to Daumier for a bit of a looksey, but I wasn't even going to attempt Salvador Dalí: Liquid Desire. The queue for tickets was just too insane. I decided to leave that one for mid next week when the weekend art enthusiasts are at work.

After that I was feeling a little pooped so I decided to wander down to Australia on Collins to say hi to A at the cafe where he's working and maybe get a coffee and something to eat. However before I'd made it past the Paly House, I was sidetracked into Creative Australia and the Ballet Russes in The Arts Centre. It's a testament to where my true interests lie in that while everyone else was engrossed in footage of Graeme Murphy and the Australian Ballet, I was pressed up against the display cabinets trying to work out who the costumes were made *g*

After that I definitely needed that coffee so I wandered down to Collins St where A provided me caffeine and A's boss provided me with a sandwich with attitude! Oce I'd eaten I was going to wander around the shops for a while, but I was wearing my new boots and my feet were starting to beg for mercy. So the train home it was, albeit with a detour to pick up my dry cleaning, buy a copy of The Age and a bottle of wine to take over to A&O's for our video night tonight.

Now I'm pooped. Who knew that being kulcharel could be so tiring?
