Just when I thought it was safe to make plans for the weekend, mum ended up in hospital today. Pneumonia again, apparently, although I saw her last Sunday and she seemed fine then, and my sister said she was really good when she had her over for dinner on Monday. Yet tonight she's in hospital again and once again my sister is pissed off with having all this dumped on top of her, I'm feeling guilty for not being able to do more and our brother is being not at all helpful.

I don't know what to do. If I could find a half decent job in the old home town I'd move back, but there zero and zilch for me to do there and commuting to and from Melbourne is not the answer because I'd hardly be home at all. Mum's great when she's well, but this is happening more and more frequently and it can't go on. Sooner or later we're going to have to play the medical power of attorney card with her and basically force her to move into an assisted living facility. We'd rather not, but what other choice have we got?
