I did all this laundry, hung it on the line to dry and now it's raining. How is that fair?
Last week, in a bold and impulsive moment, I spent a ridiculous amount of money on new bed linen. I've been wanting to buy new linen for a while now because my old sheet and doona cover set are starting to look a little tired. But I couldn't settle on what sort of linen to buy. I kept dithering between bright, cheery colours and something more classic and muted. So of course for the longest time I didn't buy anything because I couldn't make up my mind!
But last week while I was staying with mum, I wandered into the Sheridan factory outlet to have a look. I wasn't too impressed with what they had on offer, but just across the road, Myer's were having a sale and their entire Sheridan range was discounted! Ten minutes later I was dumping a new sheet set (30% off), doona cover set (40% off) and a bed skirt (full price, but I had to have it!) on the sales counter, all in snowy white. I think the woman who served me though her Christmases had all come at once! I know I would have certainly helped her meet her departmental sales target for the day, maybe even pushing it higher. And the best bit is, when I casually mentioned that I'd been across the road to the Sheridan outlet and I thought the Myer's sale was better, she gave me an extra 5% off the total!
So now my bed is made up with a lovely pure cotton damask quilt cover, sheets and pillow cases, and has a very spiffy quilted bed skirt to hide my crappy old mattress and base. And as soon as I can I'm going to buy a new bed to go with my very grown-up bed linen, although that will have to wait until after my big trip to the dentist in July :~(
