laylee: (Mulder and Scully)
Eeeee, lookie what [livejournal.com profile] suchthefangirl sent me -

My very own Supernatural key card from Comic Con!

Trying to get a decent photo was an absolute bitch and this was the best I could manage. I wish y'all could see how cute and serious Jared and Jensen are. Thank you so much, honey, I loves it!

*huggles*

In other news, I finally saw The X-Files movie tonight and I really liked it. I can see why some people didn't enjoy it because it was less aliens trying to take over the world and more esoteric themes of faith and forgiveness. But the whole Dr Frankenstein thing was suitably creepy and made me jump and hide my eyes on more than one occasion. However the lack of global conspiracies did make a difference and it really wasn't as out there as some of the classic episodes of the series which would have more than a few fans gnashing their teeth.

I thought David and Gillian did a fantastic job reprising their roles and their older but not necessarily wiser Mulder and Scully still have the most wonderful relationship. I very much enjoyed Amanda Peet and was sorry to see her character bite the dust so soon in the proceedings, but there should have been way more Skinner than they gave us. Way way more, although it was good to see him finally charge in to save the day. But I bet if you went through the supporting cast list just about everyone of them has appeared if not in The X-Files, but in another Chris Carter production cos there was more than a few familiar faces lurking in the background.

And then there's Callum. Oh Callum, please stop playing bad guys. Please please, pretty please with a cherry on top. I know you're good at it and it probably did help get you the job on Californication, but isn't it time you gave the fangirls a break? I'll buy you some new golf balls if you do!

However I did find it highly amusing that the missing FBI agent was played by Xantha Radley, one half of the Thelma and Louise duo who ripped off Joe Dick in Hard Core Logo. Hee! And since O couldn't get over the bad Russian accents, of course A and I teased him about the fact that even this many years after the cold war ended, his countrymen are still the bad guys *g*

In conclusion, I found it to be reasonably well executed and fairly satisfying, with only one or two gaping plot holes and a little bit of chewed-up scenery. Not bad for Chris Carter, and pretty much what you'd expect, really.

And because we were in Victoria street, Richmond, we couldn't go home without having a bite to eat, so after the movie went toddled off to Pacific Seafood BBQ House for some Peaking duck, salt and chili prawns and stir-fried vegies with beancurd. It's not the most glamorous place to eat, but I could live on those prawns and the crunchy fried onion and garlic they're served with forever!

I assume that all the SPN fen on my flist have seen the OMGhowisitthatJensenissoscorchinglyhot? photos that [livejournal.com profile] stir_of_echoes posted today?

What do you mean you haven't? What is wrong with you???

*shoos you in that direction*

Oh, and I'm going to Tasmania for a mini-holiday at the end of the month. I have a flight, now all I need to do is book some accommodation...
