Hmm, it would seem that I have acquired a mouse. I think it's living under my fridge, although it makes the occasional foray into the lounge room, where it takes one look at me and scurries back to the fridge.

I think there's only one. I certainly hope so. And god knows how it got in here. It's not like my top-floor flat with only one door has a lot of gaps for it to squeeze through. Unless it scaled the wall and got in through the hole in the fly screen when I left the window open one day. Wouldn't put it past it. They're tricksy those mice.

I'm not quite sure what to do. I hate the idea of killing it, but I don't really want to have it loose in the flat on an indefinite basis. What if it has babies? I could be overrun!

Maybe I can get some sort of humane trap from the RSPCA, then I can take it down to the river and let it go. That way we'd both win.

We had a mouse (mercifully just one) living in the skirting boards at Thornton Heath. In spite of our then having five cats. (Cats large; mice small.) It took forever to get rid of the little bastard. We started out with humane traps, and a plug-in thing that's supposed to send out vibrations that make mice go away, but ended up having to get in an exterminator company. In theory, I love all god's tiny creatures, but in practice ... finding the chewed, pooey places where the mouse had been was just EWWWWWWWWW!!!! to the extreme.

My mouse has yet to let any tell-tale signs of it's residency, but I know that when it does, the good old spring trap will be put to good use.
