Am very heartened by the response so far to
snarchive, although this is somewhat mitigated by the fact that I am also rather hungover, I need to finish my assignment that is due next Friday, and I have to make my way over to Northcote at some stage to fetch Delia from where I left her last night.
We went to see the B-Dolls support, of all bands, Pseudo Echo! For those of you who have no knowledge of Australian pop music circa 1986, Pseudo Echo were Australia's answer to Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet and the like. They were all big hair, electric drums and nifty synthesizer rips. They did do a rather fun cover version of Lips Inc.'s Funky Town, but kind of faded away after that. However they never officially broke up and apparently they've got a fairly dedicated following on the club circuit these days.
It's quite frightening to discover that the guys whose TV Week lift-out poster you used to have on your bedroom wall when you were a kid are now balding, middle-aged men who are not quite as tall as you are when you're wearing your tallest shoes.
So, yes, much vodka was consumed, but I was good and I didn't drink and drive. Mostly because of A losing his license for drink driving on grand final day. That incident has pretty much put the fear of god into my entire group of friends and none of us with cars and driver's licenses is willing to take even the slightest risk at the moment.
Of course I had to be wearing my tallest shoes last night when I was traipsing in the rain to Lygon street to get a taxi, but not even a little fashion-related pain is going to make me do something silly.
But I can now reveal the real reason why I bought a car. Yes, it was to make life easier for me when I go to visit the family in the old home town, but it's mostly because said family is about to acquire new member when my sister has another baby in April!
