Oh, thank God. The weather forecast has been revised down to 33c. Still quite warm, but not as bakingly hot as 42c.

I've bitten the bullet and have decided to go out tonight. But since I promised mum I'd drive up to the old home town tomorrow, it won't be a late night. I'll stay out just long enough to do the happy new year thing and then I'll be off home. I was feeling rather hermit-like earlier in the week, but hey, it's the start of a new year, and I should kick it off properly and not hide at home feeling sorry for myself.

For some reason the housework fairy has decided to wave it's magic wand at me today. Does it not realise that today is not the ideal day to clean the bathroom? That even thinking about doing the dishes makes me sweat, and vacuuming the floor is not even on my 'to do' list?

Obviously not.

Oh fine, I'll clean the bathroom. But only if I can go and get an ice cream when I'm finished.

However I've just been talking to my sister and it appears that for the fist time in history the old home town is hotter than Melbourne. Now, what you need to understand is that the old home town is not known for it's warm weather. In fact, it has a bit of a reputation for being rather chilly. Whenever I mention that I'm from there, most people who know it automatically say, 'Oh God, isn't it cold?' Well, yes, can get quite cold; in the middle of winter. But obviously these people have never been there when it is 40C there, and Melbourne is only 34C, as it is now. When I spoke to her, my sister was dressed in only shorts and a bra. That's how hot it is at the moment.

ETA: I've figured out why I've always got a basket of unfolded laundry hanging around. I simply do not have enough cupboard or draw space to store all my clothes.

*contemplates moving to a bigger flat until i remember that, a) i can't afford anything bigger than the place i already have, b) it's pretty good value for money compared to other flats in the same price range, and c) i really hate moving house*
