For some reason the housework fairy has decided to wave it's magic wand at me today. Does it not realise that today is not the ideal day to clean the bathroom? That even thinking about doing the dishes makes me sweat, and vacuuming the floor is not even on my 'to do' list?

Obviously not.

Oh fine, I'll clean the bathroom. But only if I can go and get an ice cream when I'm finished.

However I've just been talking to my sister and it appears that for the fist time in history the old home town is hotter than Melbourne. Now, what you need to understand is that the old home town is not known for it's warm weather. In fact, it has a bit of a reputation for being rather chilly. Whenever I mention that I'm from there, most people who know it automatically say, 'Oh God, isn't it cold?' Well, yes, can get quite cold; in the middle of winter. But obviously these people have never been there when it is 40C there, and Melbourne is only 34C, as it is now. When I spoke to her, my sister was dressed in only shorts and a bra. That's how hot it is at the moment.

ETA: I've figured out why I've always got a basket of unfolded laundry hanging around. I simply do not have enough cupboard or draw space to store all my clothes.

*contemplates moving to a bigger flat until i remember that, a) i can't afford anything bigger than the place i already have, b) it's pretty good value for money compared to other flats in the same price range, and c) i really hate moving house*

Y'know, I recently scrubbed my bathroom floor, and it has since become a hazard. It became so incredibly slippery that I have to hold onto the door frame to enter the room. Therefore, I conclude that cleaning is actually detrimental to one's in-home safety.

There you go, housework fairy. Cleaning is bad for ones health!

If I were the sort of person who makes resolutions, I might resolve to be a little less obsessive-compulsive (sample behaviour: our recyclables are collected every other week, and on those weeks I have to have every single scrap out of the house - if I've already put the bin out and forgot to tear off a calendar page, or took the lid off a tin, or emptied a bottle, I have to go back out and get rid of whatever-it-is. Same goes for the garbage on the other alternate week). To this end, perhaps I shall not run around the house scrubbing it in preparation for the new year.

Perhaps.

Sometime I think I need to become a little more obsessive-compulsive, especially when it comes to remembering to put out the rubbish on bin night.

No resolutions for me. Last year's were all shot to shite so I don't want to run the risk of that level of disappointment again.
