OMG, I'm going to be an aunt again when they induce my sister's baby on Friday, which, yay!, but before all this can happen a number of shenanigans will occur that largely involves us blatantly lying to our mother.
You see, the thing is mum doesn't want to know when N has the baby. I mean she wants to know about the baby after it has arrived, but would rather be left out of the whole labor/birth part of it. She'd worry too much, she says, which is fair enough, but since N's husband has this odd desire to be at the birth of his child, someone has to look after the nephew while it's happening, and that someone is moi.
So N has told mum that she and G are going to be in Melbourne on Friday to visit his sisters and she won't be going over to see her like she has most days this week. Meanwhile I have to tell mum that I'm coming home for Easter on Saturday, when what I'll really be doing is coming home on Friday at about midday so that once G has put the nephew down for his afternoon nap, I can take over from him so he can go back to the hospital. In the afternoon N's best friend will come over to give me a break and help me put the nephew down for the night, and I'll sleep at their house then go over to mum's on Saturday. Of course once N has had the baby it'll all come out, but mum has made it clear that she wants to be left out of the messy part and someone has to take care of F!
Sound complicated? You betcha. But I'm going to be an aunt again!
Wee!
