It's mum's birthday on Monday so I'm spending the weekend in the old home town, even though I didn't arrive until 3pm. It took me hours to get out of Melbourne, thanks to unusually heavy weekend traffic, road works and the fact that I didn't leave home until nearly midday. I swear I was this close to road rage today, thanks to all the idot drivers around. And stopping in Keilor to go to Spotlight didn't help matters either. However I've just put the finishing touches on the sponge roll with passionfruit cream and strawberries for her birthday cake, and the boned and stuffed chicken is in the fridge waiting to be cooked tomorrow. I also made meatloaf and salad for dinner and did two loads of laundry. Not bad for someone who was getting lost on their way home from Werribee at midnight last night.

It would seem that quite a few people on my flist are having a rough time of it at the moment. Therefore I am offering hugs all round and will happily smite anyone who makes you feel bad.

I've finally made a start on my SN sekrit santa fic. It's only a couple of hundred words at the moment, but I'm hoping for greater things this week.

Boned and deboned really do mean the same thing. However there's still no such word as sheveled, even though a person can be as disheveled as they like.

That's all, I think. Good night!

I'm home again and have just put in a friend's request to Juliet Landau's MySpace page, because I figure that if I can have Nathan Fillion on my friends list, I can have Juliet as well.

Mum's birthday lunch went off very well. Everyone loved the chicken and the sponge roll, the kids didn't molest me too much, and when I went to Spotlight after lunch I found the exact blue bead garland I had been hunting for high and low to finish off the Christmas decorations at work.

Wins! \o/

But OMG, Z is turning into such an Imelda. She wanted to go outside and play this afternoon, but I told her she couldn't go out in bare feet and had to put some shoes on. So she toddles over to her shoe nook (yes, she has a shoe nook!) and starts going through every pair, examining them, rejecting them, examining them again, testing them out against her pink leggings, black denim skirt and pink t-shirt, until she finds the perfect pair and almost succeeds in putting them on by her self. She's not even two and shoes are nearly the most important things in her life, next to Pink Rabbit and her blankie! I wonder if M will also develop her big sister's taste in footwear? Given her genetic heritage, I'd say it was a definite possibility.

Oh noes, I've just started reading this long fic and it's rilly rilly good and amusing and it's nearly midnight and I rilly must to be going to bed for tis a school night. What's a fangirl to do???
