Hey, Sports Night peeps, can one of you remember a fic where Casey goes to a photography exhibition and finds a picture of Dan taken by the photographer when they were dating during Dan's college years or some such. It's been playing on my mind the last couple of days and I'd love to read it again.

Thanks!

  • Happy Easter everyone! I have been somewhat incommunicado since last Thursday so I hope you've all had a wonderful break no matter what you celebrate.
  • Last Friday I attended my first ever rodeo in Great Western, a little 'blink and you'll miss it' town in western Victoria. We drove out Friday morning, spent the day at the rodeo and then camped over night. I haven't seen that many Akubra hats and R.M. Williams boots since the last time I watched The Man From Snowy River. Plus, there's a reason why I don't go camping. I don't care how comfortable the air mattress is, it will never make up for room service and an en-suite bathroom.
  • Easter Sunday was spent at my sister's house in the company of small children and several sisters-in-law. We ate large amounts of yummy food, drank a reasonable amount of good wine and ate many Easter eggs. All in all it was a wonderful day.
  • I still more day off and was supposed to go back to work on Wednesday, however mum's eldest brother passed away last week and now I have to drive her to Horsham on Wednesday for the funeral. He was 96 so his passing was not a surprise, but it does make me wonder just how much longer mum will be around.
  • Speaking of mum, we've finally persuaded her the maybe she shouldn't be driving anymore. Her eyesight is okay, but her ability to react to emergency situations is completely shot and what with her having a heart condition that could cause a heart attack at any time, it was perhaps time for her to hand over the car keys. She's not happy about it, but it was either that or she kill herself and the unlucky motorist who happens to be in her way when she has a funny turn while she's driving to the shops one day.
  • I have completely missed the latest episode of Supernatural and the first episode of the new Doctor Who. But don't worry about spoiling me cos I'll do that on my own anyway :~)
  • [livejournal.com profile] mojokid found this great Sports Night article that no one has seen before. Great photo of Peter, Felicity and Josh and the article its self, although short, is really rather wonderful.
  • I've just finished reading this fantastic Torchwood fic and I would urge you all to go and read it NOW! Your Face is Turned by [livejournal.com profile] sam_storyteller, Jack/Ianto (in a round about way) rated R for really, really excellent!
  • It's Tuesday tomorrow and I have to take my elderly mother bra shopping in the morning. Oh joy!

Well, another Christmas and New Year is over and done with. I'm back at work tomorrow, which is something I'm strangely looking forward to, and in four weeks time I will be in New York!

My New Year celebrations were fun, if rather hectic. NYE was spent at H's apartment with the Uni House crew. We ate dinner, drank (too much, at least on my part) wine and champagne and didn't get saturated when the heavens opened up just before midnight. In my usual dignified fashion I passed out fell asleep on the couch and ended having an impromptu sleepover. When I work up the next morning I felt like absolute crap and all I wanted to do was die! But I had to go out again later that day so I managed dragged myself home and went back to bed for a few hours in an attempt to recover.

New Year's day, once I work up again, was Nurse Betty at Alumbra. Bud was DJing in the main room while Butch was spinning some cool disco funk in the upstairs bar. All the usual crew was there and it was a very fun afternoon/evening, in an odd sort of way. I wore my Lily Allen dress and it garnered quite a few pleasing remarks. One space cadet from Lesbian Corner was so impressed she asked if she could take my photo! And with my hair out I received the most 'you look like Nicole Kidman!' comments that I've had in a long time. However I've never seen so many sweaty, shirtless guys assembled in one room in my entire life! Made edging through the crowd an interesting experience in logistics as I tried push my way through with out actually touching anyone. Yeach! This time, however, I sensibly stuck to the light beer, so I was practically sober by the time I got home. I spent Saturday doing as little as possible and aside from having to go out to buy a few grocery items, plan to do much the same today.

Actually, I do tell a lie. I spent most of yesterday uploading the Llama Saga to AO3. They're all there now except We Wish You a [Llama] Christmas because I seem to have lost all the pictures that go with the story. It's really no good without them, so I'm going to have to spend some time redoing them before I can post it to the archive. I also posted a few other odds and sods and eventually I'll get all my stuff up there. For someone who doesn't write anything at all these days, I really was quite prolific for a while there.

Okay, do I go and get dressed or keep reading Torchwood fic? Clothes vs. Jack and Ianto? Gah, the choices one has to make!

Had a sleepover at best work friend's house last night and what did I spy sitting on her TV unit when I got there? Sports Night DVDS!

She'd borrowed them off our mutual friend K a few days ago but had yet to start watching them, so of course I felt it was my duty to insist that we put the first disc on IMMEDIATELY!

We started with the pilot which, yeah, isn't the best ep ever, but A likes to start at the beginning with these things so that's where we began. And what was the first thing that came out of her mouth when Dan and Casey appeared on the screen?

"Are they boyfriends?"

OMG, words cannot...!!!

So of course I made her skip forward to Thespis after that, which only confirmed her suspicions, especailly when Casey admitted that he gave up his marriage to work with Dan. Then I made her cry by going back to The Apology. She doesn't like Casey very much and thinks he's a bit of an ass (which he is) but she thinks Danny is divine!

Hooray, another fangirl is born!

For reasons that I really can't contemplate at this juncture, I spent a good portion of the afternoon watching women's soccer on TV. Yes, I know, Dan Rydell would be horrified, but there was literally nothing else worth watching and I was feeling too lazy to try and decide on a DVD so girls playing soccer it was.

Speaking of Sports Night, I presume everyone on my flist has ready [livejournal.com profile] scrunchy's latest offering, however I'm going to rec it anyway just so the .01% or you who might have missed it can revel in it's wonderfulness. How Are Things at Crate & Barrel? by [livejournal.com profile] scrunchy, Dan/Casey rated PG-13. Enjoy!

So, I've been seeing this guy for the last week or so, someone I met at the party I went to on new year's day, only the relationship is going to go absolutely nowhere because he's from the UK and he flies home on Tuesday. But you know what? I'm really not that fussed. It's been fun to hang out with a boy-type thing and go on dates and such - even if he won't kiss me because I've been sick and he's not inclined to take a 20 hour flight back to London home with a head cold. We'll probably do the whole, 'Oh, I'll email you!' thing, but it's hardly the romance of the century and if I never see him again after Monday I won't be tearing my hair out about some lost great love or some such.

It's also Best Work Friend's birthday this week and to celebrate she got this amazing three nights for the price of one deal on a $1000 a night suite at The Hotel Windsor. She invited a few of us over last night for a party and OGM, the place is divine! It's literally the size of a small house with two bedrooms, living and dining rooms, a marble bathroom and an entrance hall that's nearly the same size as my bedroom! The hotel its self has been recently refurbished and the suite is beautifully decorated with antique and reproduction furniture, has actual works art on the walls and the most divine view of Parliament House from the balcony. We spent the evening eating cheese, drinking champagne and red wine and all or us wishing we were rich enough to live there permanently and just order room service every day.

Meh, back to work tomorrow. Where has the weekend gone? At least my cold is better, even though I'm still blowing my nose an awful lot. I got the bus to work every day last week but I'm back on the bike tomorrow and (hopefully) gym next week. I have put on so much weight the last couple of months and I feel like such a blob. Time to take myself in hand, methinks, and not let it get the better of me.

Yes.
