Work has finished for the year, hooray!

\o/

The ground floor crew in the library celebrated the fact by cracking open a bottle of champagne or two and hauling out the chips and dips. Apparently it's a tradition of many years standing, one I was unaware of until this morning otherwise I would have taken the bottle of bubbly that I have sitting in my fridge to work with me because you've no idea how sad it is to watch a librarian try and squeeze the last few drops out of a bottle of plonk.

I was going to go and get Chinese or fish and chips for dinner to celebrate the fact that I don't have to go to work for ten days, but I'm afraid that if I venture too far outside I might drown!

See??? )

Instead, I'm eating the last of the potluck risotto I made the other night and eying the pile of dishes I need to do before I take off for the old home town tomorrow.

In a fit of nostalgia I'm watching Harsh Realm because it was my first major online fandom and I still love it to bits even though I hope almost all of the fic I wrote for it (except for one or two pieces that I'm still kinda proud of) never again sees the light of day. Good lord, if you think I'm queen of the run-on sentence today, you should have seen me back then before I found out what a Beta was for!

I have to say, though, Chris Carter's commentary for the pilot episode is about as boring as watching paint dry. Chris, honey, it's not enough to just sit there in silence and watch along with the audience. We want to to actually say something occasionally, preferably something that gives us a little bit of insight about your motivations and the thought process that went into creating the series. A half-baked anecdote about how the critics hated the dog doesn't cut it, okay?

On a side note, given its association with The X-Files and its filming location (Vancouver), what do you bet that if the series had lasted long enough, Callum Keith Rennie would have eventually turned up as a murderous VC who Pinocchio has to shoot in cold blood in order to save Tom and Florence?

I'm just saying.

The rain seems to have slowed down and the dishes are done. I have toyed with the idea of doing some sewing but it's the first day of my holidays and I can't be bothered moving from the couch. I have, however, started my SN fic and have about seven hundred words. If I can do another seven hundred over the next couple of days I'll be happy, so I really should work on that anyway.

Maybe I'll go and make a cup of tea.
