Hooray, it's raining!

Yes, I know, not something one usually celebrates, but when you live in a city that has not seen a decent shower of rain since before Christmas and parts of the state are still on fire from nearly a month ago, any precipitation is welcome.

It's been an odd sort of a day, in more ways than one. Not bad odd, just odd. No wonder champagne was called for at lunchtime.

I've been having a bit of a Harsh Realm renaissance as I try and find my old fics on the HRFic Yahoo Group. Gwad, I'd forgotten how obsessed I was with the show. And I've also come across a couple of fics that I'd completely forgotten about. One of these days I must get them all together, re-edit them and post them...somewhere. LJ probably, even if it's only for archiving purposes. I'm not sure I'd want to inflict my early attempts at fanfic on anyone, lest of all myself!

Now that it's March I feel totally justified buying hot cross buns and Easter eggs. I couldn't bring myself to do so in January and it still felt weird in February, but now that it's March and summer is no more, HCBs it is!

Work has finished for the year, hooray!

\o/

The ground floor crew in the library celebrated the fact by cracking open a bottle of champagne or two and hauling out the chips and dips. Apparently it's a tradition of many years standing, one I was unaware of until this morning otherwise I would have taken the bottle of bubbly that I have sitting in my fridge to work with me because you've no idea how sad it is to watch a librarian try and squeeze the last few drops out of a bottle of plonk.

I was going to go and get Chinese or fish and chips for dinner to celebrate the fact that I don't have to go to work for ten days, but I'm afraid that if I venture too far outside I might drown!

See??? )

Instead, I'm eating the last of the potluck risotto I made the other night and eying the pile of dishes I need to do before I take off for the old home town tomorrow.

In a fit of nostalgia I'm watching Harsh Realm because it was my first major online fandom and I still love it to bits even though I hope almost all of the fic I wrote for it (except for one or two pieces that I'm still kinda proud of) never again sees the light of day. Good lord, if you think I'm queen of the run-on sentence today, you should have seen me back then before I found out what a Beta was for!

I have to say, though, Chris Carter's commentary for the pilot episode is about as boring as watching paint dry. Chris, honey, it's not enough to just sit there in silence and watch along with the audience. We want to to actually say something occasionally, preferably something that gives us a little bit of insight about your motivations and the thought process that went into creating the series. A half-baked anecdote about how the critics hated the dog doesn't cut it, okay?

On a side note, given its association with The X-Files and its filming location (Vancouver), what do you bet that if the series had lasted long enough, Callum Keith Rennie would have eventually turned up as a murderous VC who Pinocchio has to shoot in cold blood in order to save Tom and Florence?

I'm just saying.

The rain seems to have slowed down and the dishes are done. I have toyed with the idea of doing some sewing but it's the first day of my holidays and I can't be bothered moving from the couch. I have, however, started my SN fic and have about seven hundred words. If I can do another seven hundred over the next couple of days I'll be happy, so I really should work on that anyway.

Maybe I'll go and make a cup of tea.

I'm still up. It's after midnight and I really should go to bed, but I'm...yes, still up.

D.B. Sweeney is ridiculously pretty in Reunion but less-so in Three Percenters. I am rediscovering my Pinocchio/Florence love, which sends the slasher in me into fits of shock.

I have a cocktail party to attend tomorrow night for work, and then I have to go to a conference on Wednesday morning. Wednesday evening is the friends and family night at T's new club and I really need to get my legs waxed so I can wear my new dress. I want to go to yoga on Thursday, am driving to the old home town Friday, attending my nephew's 2nd birthday Saturday, driving home Sunday and going out to dinner with R and the girls that evening.

Somewhere in all that I'll try and find time to breathe, but don't count on it.

Am ded. Have climbed to the top of hanging rock today and now am ded. So tired and ded. Yep, ded. Don't expect to see me alive for at least the next twelve hours.

Oh, and Chris Carter's commentary on the pilot episode of Harsh Realm? Most boring commentary ever. I'm hoping Daniel Sackheim's commentary is more interesting because Chris's is about to send me to sleep!
