laylee: (Need Coffee)
I had the prep work for my crown done today and now I feel like I've been hit by a truck. God I hate going to the dentist. It's never pleasant, even when its just for a check-up, and expensive! Thank the Lord I have private health insurance because the one hour I spent there today cost $1200 alone!

So, anyway, I went to work for a while but I felt so crappy that I ended up going home after a couple of hours. To add to the uncomfortable temporary crown I am living with for the next two weeks, my cold has decided to make a grand return, which made for some very interesting times when my mouth was full of dental wax and I just had to cough Right Now! I'd take tomorrow off as well but we're already down three people and having to close the service point for two hours over lunch time. Sometimes it sucks to be a conscientious boss.

Strangely enough when I got home I had this insatiable urge to sew, so I zoomed out to Darn Cheap Fabrics and whacked fifty dollars worth of material on the credit card. Some of it is for future reference, but I then whipped up a cute little black A-line shift dress that I can wear to work tomorrow with some boots. All up it only cost $13.00 for the materials and about 4 hours of labour, so even if I only get a couple of wears out of it it's worth it.

Before I left the surgery today, my dentist ordered me onto a soft-food diet until the permanent crown is fitted. I foresee a lot of soup, omelets, porridge, custard, and stewed fruit in my life over the next two weeks. Fortunately he didn't say anything about red wine, but no chocolate unless it's in liquid form. It's too crunchy apparently. Boo!
