I successfully resisted the urge to buy shoes today, despite the fact that two of the shoe shops in the non-factory outlet end of Smith Street were having 50% off sales. Instead I bought groceries and a cute little top with sequins for summer. But I didn't buy shoes.

I've banned myself from buying any form of footwear or clothing for the rest of the month. If I can get through the next three weeks without spending money of clothing I don't really need, I think I'll be okay at least until the beginning of summer.

But there were sequins, so the day was not wholly wasted. I have various shoes on watch on eBay (for The Wedding). Cue much debating of the "If they're under a fiver including postage, it doesn't matter if I can't walk in them, so I can just get them for Special and not worry about getting everyday use out of them!" "No! Buy Practical Shoes! You are not made of money!!" "But I want SHINY ..."

I swear, it's like bloody Gollum in there some days. Except, of course, that Gollum didn't wear shoes.

Everyone needs a couple of pairs of shoes that they only wear for Special and don't actually walk in. Sensible are dime a dozen, but Special rarely occurs.
