So back to work today. Not as heinous as I thought it might be, but still...

Anyway, I've come to the conclusion that since we appear to be stuck with each other for the time being, I should perhaps try and concentrate on the positive aspects of my job, and not just on the fact that career-wise it's going nowhere, the internal politics sucks the fun out of just about everything, and that I dislike a many of the people I work with.

So, a list.

* The pay and benefits really are better than I would rightly expect for doing similar duties somewhere else.
* Flex time.
* The campus is lovely. I could be working for Monash and have to slog out to Caulfield or even Clayton everyday, but instead I get to go to one of the prettiest university campuses in Australia each day.
* I have the best view of the south lawn from the window next to my desk.
* Many of the collections I work with a really very beautiful.
* Lygon Street.
* It's close to home so I don't have to spend up to three hours a day travelling to and from work.
* My supervisor pretty much lets me do as I like as long as I get things done in a reasonable amount of time.
* Even though most of the food outlets in the student union suck, the Vietnamese soup shop rocks and you can always get a decent cup of coffee from the sushi place.
* It's handy to both my gym and my yoga studio.
* They've been really good about me taking time off work to go to school.

I'm sure there's more but I can't think of them at this moment. But yeah, concentrating on the good and keeping the bad shoved to the side. For the moment.

It's hard work, but sometimes you just have to concentrate on the positives. Especially when it comes to work, since we all have to spend so much time there!

If I could cut down to three days per week I'm sure I'd enjoy it much more. Alas, the finanaces just wouldn't take it!
