Oh my goodness gracious, today is the most pointless day at work, ever. No one in the reading room; barely anyone in the whole library aside from the staff. We're all just hanging around waiting until 1.00pm when we can go and finish our Christmas shopping. The boss has already left, the deputy boss left yesterday and is now possibly in Egypt. I have plans to look for my Christmas present to myself (why, yes, it is shoes!) and then I'm going to go to gym. The only bright spot has been the "this library is closing soon" announcement that sounded like the lending services guys have been into the Christmas cheer a little early.

I'm getting ready to go in to work, knowing that we'll be leaving at midday and, frankly, the only reason I'm going in is because we'll be leaving at midday ...

I'm not quite sure what point there was in any of us going to work today. Only one person came in all morning, and was just to tell us that she wouldn't be able to come in :~\
