I now have the most ginormous pile of homework to do, mostly because I have the best bosses in the world!

I told them about my interview, and the next thing I know we're swinging into project 'Get Lesley this job!' I have to pretty much memorise the University's strategic plan and my division's intranet, and next week we're going to do a mock interview so I can practice answering all those hairy questions that usually crop up. M (the big boss) is going to suss things out with a couple of people and P (the department boss) is going to help me organise my thoughts.

I'm all a bit stunned about this. Usually the only time you talk to your boss about a new job is if you're after a promotion or when you hand in your resignation so you can start a new one. I've never had bosses who will actively work with you to get a job that will ultimately lose you to them, but after all the false starts and assurances that I would get promoted only to have it taken away, pretty much due to money, I think they're too scared to let this opportunity slip from my grasp.

I do have the best bosses!

But sucky co-workers and no recognition for your accomplishments. That's the downside. I'm glad they're being supportive, anyway. Now, off the interwebs and into the books with you!

I do beleive it's M's way of making up for the sucky co-workers and lack of recognition. Guilt has gotten the better of him and if it gets me a better job, who am I to complain?

It's all a bit of a shock, but if it gets me the job...

I was hoping for a leisurely weekend, but I'm happy to fore-go leisure just this once.

Good luck! And yay for great bosses.

Now, I've missed an entry or two. What's the job you're going for?

It's a new position at work, doing information awareness and literacy. It's two steps up in level and would definitely open more doors for me that working in rare books had done.
