I bought a rug today.

You see, I've wanted to buy a dressmakers dummy so I went to Spotlight to check their's out and found out they were having a rug sale. A sale of rugs. 100% pure wool rugs were on sale. Rugs that were not garishly unattractive or too small to be or any practical use were being sold for $99, marked down from $499! They were too good to pass up.

So I bought a rug today.

I also bought some stripy socks, a pair of pink moccasins to keep my feet warm, a Fat Boy Slim CD and some 'mums for my mum. But my greatest shopping achievement was the rug, which is now spread out in front of my couch. I'm even thinking of going back for another one to put under the table just because they're so cheap and not at all bad looking. It's certainly better than the old, used-to-be-pale-green-but-has-now-faded-to-an-indescribable-grey/cream-colour, carpet in my flat.

I feel like such a homemaker *g*

We spent a lot of time looking for a rug when we moved here - the sitting room has a wooden floor (laminate, not nice real wood) and it needed something. I wanted a proper Oriental rug, but they were way out of our price range. We ended up with a nylon impersonation, which isn't too hideous ... but in view of the amount of cat hair (and sick!) it gets on it, I suppose it's as well it's only a cheap thing.

/domestic.

I don't mean 'impersonation', do I, but you get the idea.

This new one replaced a nylon impersonation I picked up cheap at a secondhand shop last year. The pattern was okay, but it was obviously a nylon imitation and this one looks so much better.

I bought a few dress forms from various places years ago and never seemed to work out well. The boobs were just too "perky" for my real life body. Oh well. Then, finally, I found a site that showed how to make a duct tape double so you could have it 100% customized to your own body. Never got around to it though. You need lots of tape and a willing helper to tape you up. Never had the help so it never got done.

Good deal on the rug, though! Congrats.

I used to have a dress form but it belonged to a freind so I had to give it back. I like to use one when I'm on my own and there's no one around to help with fitting, but they are very decpetive and I don't think they really match any living woman.

I'm not sure I'd want duct tape near my boobs. Imagine ripping it off!

Hee he, well, the instructions have you wear a close fitting tee shirt under and tape over that. Wish I could remember where I saw that. Sorry.
