I'm always stunned at people who call high school the best years of their life. I always stare at them in disbelief and say, "Um, really? Your life must really suck now."

Okay, I leave off the last bit, but c'mon! I didn't hate high school (although I hated many aspects of it); I had lots of fun, but even then I shuddered in dread at the thought of those being the best years of my life. Any era that includes gym class and having to ask to use the bathroom is disqualified automatically.

It's ridiculous to think that the best years of your life are over by 18. Sure they're probably the most carefree years of your life in terms of the near absence of adult responsibility, but it's also the time when you know least about who your are and what you want. Figuring all that out is what makes the rest of your life the most fun!
