I've seen this floating around my flist and it's such a cool story it bears repeating.

Apparently the organisers of Flanvention, a Serenity/Firefly convention, went belly-up and cancelled at the very last moment, even though many fans had already arrived at the hotel for the event. So what happens? Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk, Mark Sheppard, Jonathan Woodward, Christina Hendricks and Adam Baldwin turn up anyway and start partying with the fans! Apparently Nathan Fillion even cleaned out his closet and started giving stuff away!!

How could you not love these people after reading that? Other actors would be bitching about not getting their appearance money, but these guys love their fans so much they went completely out of their way to say thank you to the people who support them. It warms the cockles of my heart it does.
Mood:: 'impressed' impressed

Totally makes me want to cry. In the good way. I was telling Jai just how much I love Nathan just last night when all I knew was about the guys showing up. Then to hear about him cleaning out his closet and giving stuff away. Awwww! All of them - such Big Damn Heroes.

One more reason to think Firefly was the best thing to ever happen to television.

Oh that's awesome! One of my good friends went and I'm so glad she won't come home disappointed. I hope she had a great time!

*hearts my fandom*

I went to see a band play once where the attendance didn't meet the bar's minimum standard, so they wouldn't pay the band for playing, but the group came out and did their sets anyway*. That was the first time I saw Stevie Ray Vaughan play, and, man, even if he hadn't been great I would have loved him for that. Of course, I already loved Mr. Fillion and Co, but that bit of generosity on their part just kind of cements it a little more. :)

* though the audience did wind up covering their bar tab, which, considering there were only something like 25 of us in the audience and the band was comprised of alcoholics, turned out to be a fairly expensive proposition *snicker*
