(no subject)

I have self-inflicted clubbing injuries. Yeah, I'm not sure either :~\

I've been spending the weekend in the old home town. Yesterday I met up C for lunch before I proceeded to watch him spend a ridiculous amount of money on clothes for his new job and then took the nephew for a bus ride. Today I was supposed to be taking mum out for lunch, but she's just announced that she's going back to bed, so I guess I'll just have to go hang with F again and watch Z try and walk.

I am currently still in my pyjamas. I just thought you needed to know that.

[livejournal.com profile] stephanie206 is tempting me with shoes. She is evol and I love hate her! But I have been taking a good look at my wardrobe of late, and with summer coming up I think it's time to get a few new things. My work pants are all two or three years old at least, and recently I had to toss a few shirts because they were so old they were unwearable. Plus, with my new 'managerial' position it means I can't spend half the week slouching around in jeans and a black turtleneck, no matter how much the look works for me.

The only problem is, I really want to get serious about saving up for going overseas when I have long service leave in '09, which means minimal going out, only spending money on necessities and definitely no clothes or shoes unless really I can't avoid it. At the moment I'm thinking, get some new stuff now, and start the serious saving at the beginning of next year. That way I'll potentially be able to carry over for at least the next eighteen months with what I've got, and be able to start squirreling away any extra cash I might have after the basic necessities of life have been taken care of.

Alright, time to put clothes on and go pick lemons to take to work.

OK,this just exposes me for the geeky old homebody that I am, but the phrase "self induced clubbing injuries" brings a much different mental picture to me than you probably meant. Or maybe it just exposes me as some sort of grammar luddite. To club to me involves a cudgel and not a cute pair of shoes. *g*

Anyway, hope you had fun.

You have lemon trees? *green with envy*

Yes, I do mean club as in the place where one goes to drink over-priced drinks and try and have shouted conversations with friends over loud, obnoxious dance music. I caught my ankle on the heel of my shoe as I was trying to squish my way through the crowd to get to the ladies and gave myself a nice old cut and bruise :~\ It's not the first time I've come home from a night out all battered and bruised, but I don't think I've ever actually injured myself before!

My mum has a lemon tree, or shrub really because it's quite small. But it produces a surprisingly large amount of lemons, too many for her to use all on her ownsome, so I'm going to take a couple of bags to work and leave them in the tea room for people to help themselves. Everyone loves free lemons *g*

whereabouts overseas do you plan to go?

(I have to admire other's adventures from afar, as I am such a homebody)

I'm thinking about Canada, maybe. Or somewhere exotic like Egypt, although I'd also go to Europe and the UK. Or New York. I'd LOVE to go to New York! But it'll really depend on how much money I can save and how many shoes I decide not to buy *g*

I am so fat now that only wraparound skirts will do, and I get them all off eBay. But I don't trust eBay for shoes.

I've been rather hit and miss with the clothing and footwear that I've gotten off eBay. Sometimes it's good and sometimes I'm re-listing it the day after it arrived :~\

Yes, I find that. Sometimes things aren't listed accurately, and sometimes I haven't read properly or have misinterpreted. I got what looked like a really nice skirt the other day - very pretty brown/black patterned fabric - but it was only semi-wrap, it was stitched with a wrapover flap, and it just Did Not Work. So that was disappointing. Mostly skirts are so cheap they just go in the charity bag, filed under 'Oh, well', they're not worth the hassle of relisting. But my biggest disappointment was a pair of boots. I've got chunky legs, so anything higher than an ankle boot is almost impossible, especially as I also want low heels (I'm OLD, don't judge me!), and these were buckled and looked perfect. But when they arrived, they were only 37s, not 38s. So I was Miffed. Those, I re-sold. Note that I am too polite to make a fuss with the seller!

Me too. Last year I got these great shoes that were listed as a 9 but were actually a 9 1/2 when I got them and just that little too big, but did I say anything to the seller??
