laylee: (Socks)
OMG, I am so full! I went out for dinner with A&O and had the most enormous chicken parmigiana with chips and salad. This on top of all the party food I ate at work today for cup day. I feel like baby elephant. Or a beached whale. Maybe both.

Date night tomorrow. Am a bit nervous, but he sent me a text at lunch time just to see how I was which was very sweet and it made me feel a whole lot less edgy. I haven't gotten new shoes, but I think I'm going semi-casual in jeans, a smock top and my vintage pink Fletcher Jones jacket. I'm going straight from work, but I'll take my make up with me and freshen up in the shower room before I wander over to the cinema.

Meep, date!

I really enjoyed Supernatural last night. I particularly liked Dean's conversation with the demon, even though his inability to remember a simple exorcism is a little far-fetched for someone who has been a profession demon hunter practically his entire life, while Sam was down right scary in the cold-blooded way that he shot Casey and the priest. And it's cute that Dean had other hunting buddies when Sam was at school. So many fics have Dean lost and alone when his brother is at Standford, so it's refreshing to see that canon has him occasionally teaming up with other people, while fanon often has him a drunken mess without his Sammy. I love the continuity with the Magic Fingers, and it was also good to see Don S. Davis turn up in his obligatory guest role for any series filmed in or around Vancouver. Sam's moves when he disarmed the two guys were like, whoa, smooth! and then his nervous apology when he realised that they weren't demons was so damn cute.

There's been a bit of talk about how this season hasn't got the same resonance as the previous two, however I think that's because the writers and producers are taking a slightly different tact in developing the story this time. They're building the tension up slowing rather than hitting us over the head with it from the first ep, and little things like Sam's increasing ruthlessness, Dean's almost admission that he's beginning to regret his bargain, and the very telling expression on his face when Sam shot the demons is only part of the build-up to some serious angst. I'd still like more classic rock on the soundtrack, and way more Bobby than those girls, but so far I'm enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would given various negative opinions I was foolish enough to read before it stared.

I did bugger-all at work today. There wasn't much to do anyway because the rest of the city was enjoying a public holiday for Melbourne Cup day. Tomorrow, however, I am anticipating a flood of incoming requests and a veritable mountain of books to process.

*sigh*
