It's hard to make a perfect poached egg. You want the white cooked, and the yolk runny (or, well, I do), and just a few seconds too many can leave you with a solid-all-through egg, and then it does not oooooze out and saturate your toast mmmmmmm.

(I couldn't eat poached eggs at all as a kid, they made me sick, but I have got over that. Though I do have to use an egg poacher, I still can't deal if they're just dropped into boiling water.)

Why would you not want a fireman party and a fire engine cake if you are 4? Or 5 or 6 or 7, come to that.

Also: ♥. I said that before, but it bears repeating.

My poached egg skillz are reasonable, but I still have a tendency to leave them for a minute which then means I end up with rocks instead of runny yellow goodness :~(

Woe unto the rock ...

... that sounded awfully biblical.

Hooray, kittenz!

I was looking at some cute bundles of fluff in the pet shop yesterday, but managed to abstain. Although I suppose a kitten would potentially relieve me of my other (unwlecome) house guest.

Don't you believe it. We had a mouse in London for months. Cats big, mouses tiny, can go where cats cannot.
