Huzzah, the money came through overnight so I'm just about to get dressed and zoom down to the bank to make a withdrawal. And get coffee because this is a very important occasion and coffee is essential.

When I told them at work that I was taking the morning off to wait for the bed they were all like, "Why don't you take the whole day off?" and for a moment I was sorely tempted, but I do have a fair bit to do and my Protestant work ethic got the better of me. Bugger.

ETA: The money has been got, coffee acquired and the old bed stripped. Now I'm waiting for the new bed to arrive and I'm good to go.

*waits impatiently*

damn that protestant work ethic. i seem to have acquired one of my own. much in the way that one might acquire an opportunistic infection, i imagine. i hope your bed has arrived, and it is awesome.

I'm not sure where this protestant work ethic came from, especially since I come from a Catholic background. Yet somewhere along the line I suddenly developed these workaholic tendencies and I've been unable to shake them ever since.

Hurried 'yay', as I ought to be off to work myself. Hope the new bed is comfy. You are a much better person than I am, if someone had given me carte blanche to have a day off, and I was expecting a new bed, I would have spent the rest of the day in it.

Unfortunately being the boss means you do have to set an example for your team. And since two went home sick and another had the day off anyway if I hadn't gone in the whole department would have had to shut down!
