Just got back from the old home town where I finally finished making the couch covers for my sister. That means I could finally bring my sewing machine home so I can finally make the skirts I've been wanting to make for the last few weeks and therefore finally wear them to work. Finally.
So I spent yesterday crawling around N's hardwood floors (ouch, my knees!) cutting out fabric and then sewing it together. One of my sisters-in-law lent me her overlocker so I could do lots of whiz-bang zooming along seams to neaten them (wot fun!) and as the sister, the hubby and the nephew had gone away for the weekend I was able to watch no less than sixteen episodes of Sports Night back to back.
Ah, Thesipis, let me count the ways...
So yes, brought the sewing machine home on the train, then proceeded to wander the city for half an hour looking for a taxi. And oh my, isn't my sewing machine heavy, especially when I have to cart it around for so long. Grrr, damn taxi shortage.
However I do have a slight impediment to my grand skirt plan. As my laptop is still in fairly precarious condition and the new one has yet to be purchased, I dare not move it from where I have set it up on my (only) table. In the exact spot where I usually put the sewing machine. Hmm, maybe I wont be parading an array of stylish new skirts at work this week after all.
Note to self: Buy new computer!
