Can you get the car but carry on using the bike for everyday stuff, just use the car for distances and big shops? Or is it just as expensive to keep it off-street as run it all the time? (Can't be, surely, the petrol costs would make a difference.)

These are things I, too, shall have to learn very soon.

Excellent shoes. I may need to buy shoes for bro's wedding. But they will have to be shoes I can use again (and again and again). H'm.

I'm giving up thinking about cars. I find it's not conducive to good metal health. Or my bank balance. Not when I'd rather save up nd go overseas when I finish uni next year.

Shoes, of course, don't count. They're a necessity!

If you can get by without one, it's probably as well to shelve the whole thing. I actually do need to get a car (but first learn to drive!), because public transport's so bad around here. Also, my new job (crosses fingers, attempts not to jinx self) is moving next year, and I'll need to drive by then!

I'm actually quite frugal on the shoe front, though.

If I were still living in the old home town I'd wouldn't think twice bout buying one because the public transport there is so crap. But in Melbourne it not too bad so I can get away without for a while longer.

I wish I were frugal on the shoe front. I'm like a bower bird finding a shiny object. Must have now!

On the other hand, having tried on my Hetty dress for the upcoming wedding (and also established that one of my other dresses would probably also do, or is it a bit washed out? H'mm), I need some nice sandals, as I'm not wearing tights in September and my only good shoes are court shoes, and also a black shrug. So I looked on eBay for the shrug, and in spite of the fact that I know I need something quite plain and black and knitted so that I'll get more than one use out of it, my eyes are irresistibly drawn to anything that says 'vintage' and/or 'beaded'. We all have our own weaknesses.

I have the same thing with 'vintage' and 'beaded'. I was rumaging through my wardrobe the other day and I found a beaded vintage cardi that I can't even remember buying!

Maybe you didn't buy it, maybe the cardi fairy brought it. In which case, you definitely win all round.
