I'm suddenly very snowed under with homework. I don't expect to have any sort of life for at least the next two months. Keeping up with LJ will definitely be a problem, so please, everyone, try not to be too interesting for the next little while.

I did, however, manage to catch a couple of the [livejournal.com profile] rat_jam screenings over the weekend, including Sports Night. OMG, so much squee! It was great watching Dear Louise and especially Thespis with a few old hands and a couple of new friends who could not believe how text the subtext between Dan and Casey really is. When I finally get done with school an SN screening and chat session is not only on, but mandatory!

In the mean time, [livejournal.com profile] celli has detailed all sorts of plans and plots to breathe some life back into the Sports Night fandom over at her journal that came out of [livejournal.com profile] muskratjamboree on the weekend. It's amazing what a bunch of seething fanfgirls can achieve when you get them in the same room with some fanish DVDs and a bottle or six of wine.

OMG, is it really Easter next weekend? where has the year gone?

There's something wrong with one of my West Wing DVDs! One of the DVDs that came as part of the not-so-cheap box set I bought for myself for my birthday. It's freezing in the middle of Six Meetings Before Lunch and won't play the rest of the episode. Skipping to the next chapter doesn't work, although doing the DVD equivalent of rewinding from the closing credits sort of does but I'd rather not have to do that, thankyouverymuch.

So, after a mild bout of panic and much trawling around the amazon.com website I finally found something that looks like information about exchanging faulty goods and email them about it. But I must have used the wrong form or something because they get it into their heads that I want a refund and request more information. I email them back saying that all I want is a new DVD, and they respond again asking for more information about my request for a refund.

GAH!!!!!

After about three more emails I finally convince them that no, I'm not asking for my money back and that sending me a new box set will be perfectly fine. Of course the fact that you never deal with the same person from their (off-shore and so-called) customer service centre twice, and that you have to go through their very hard to find email help page just to contact them in the first place does not help the situation at all.

Anyhoo, somewhere along the line I must have emailed the correct information because the upshot of all that is that I should receive a new box set by ANZAC Day and they're refunding the shipping costs for the first one. When I send the defective one back (which I won't do until I get the new one) they will also refund the shipping costs for that as well. It just goes to show that in some cases, making a pest of yourself will get you exactly what you want!
