- Last night I had the pleasure of hanging out with the delightful
jamethiel_bane, her equally lovely partner and, of course, the kitties. We watched some Sports Night and some Buffy, with a side trip into The Sentinal, ate pizza and chocolate and drank a very nice Shiraz. We talked about fic and fanishness, and had only a slight drama when
jamethiel_bane's iTunes had a bit of a conniption fit. All in all it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and one I hope to repeat soon before they go off on their big adventure to Japan.
- I never realised just how much time I used to spend keeping myself amused with LJ at work until I got a job that keeps me very busy 90% of the time. These days I can barely keep up with my flist and I may even have to do a little cutting back just so I can cope. But I really don't want to because I love you all and would hate to lose any of you! *clings to flist*
- Relating to point 2, I have so many fics saved in my 'To Read' file it's about to burst. There's Sports Night from a couple of weeks ago, a pile of entries from
ds_match, a whole heap of Supernatural and a couple of random things that I can't even remember why I wanted to read them in the first place. If you've written something recently and I haven't commented on it, I will get to it but it may take me a little while to do so.
- On Thursday I had to sit on an interview panel for a position we're filling at work. It was practically my first time on the other side of the job interview experience and I can tell you that it's just as nerve-wracking for the interviewers and it is for the interviewees. *wibbles* Of course it doesn't help that the position was being filled internally and that I have to interact with most of the unsuccessful candidates on a daily basis. But as much as we wanted to give everyone a job, we chose who we thought was the best person for position and I can only hope that they understand that it wasn't personal.
- I had my eyes tested the other day, and since I am now of a certain age, it apparently includes a complimentary glaucoma test :~\ Anyhoo, it turns out I need to start wearing glasses while working on the computer, so I picked out a nice pair of tortoiseshell frames that I hope don't make me look like too much of a librarian and I pick them up next week.
- Speaking of librarians, the ABC has started screening a new series called The Librarians. A couple of my library school friends came over to watch the first episode with me, and although it was amusing in places I didn't find it particularly funny. It's been written in the same vein as The Office and features a cast of 'quirky' characters, however I certainly open no one thinks that all librarians are as priggish as Frances, or that anyone dressed in a hot pink pleather mini dress can walk into a job as a librarian without at least Bachelor's degree in library and information management under their glittery gold belt.
- I took my overlocker up to the the sewing machine doctor in Greensborough today. He thinks it's just the power cord acting up, but he's going to give it a service because it's probably due for one anyway. Thing is, this is my last weekend at home for at least the next three weeks and the shop closes before I finish work so I'm not sure when I'll be able to retrieve it, unless I put off going up to the old home town until Saturday morning and fetch it before taking off. *ponders*
- I'm going out tonight and have no idea what to wear. Do I wear my birthday dress with the plunging neckline and red strappy heels? My silver silk Audrey dress with the cute bow and my black heels? Or go for a rock chick look with jeans, a vintage black and silver tee and my high-heeled black boots?
- Following on from #8, I'm hoping it's not too big a night because I really need to go and put three pairs of work pants on lay-by tomorrow. I mentioned a while ago that my work clothes are starting to look rather down at heel, but some of them are now positively embarassing! If I don't do something about it soon I'll be wearing my pyjamas to work and that just won't do
- I've just done three loads of laundry, including my sheets and towels, and I'm pooped.
- Is it just me or does Jensen always look a little tired around the eyes?
