I have the Quiche Lorraine and the cake for Mother's Day lunch all cooked and ready to go. They both turned out really well, the quiche especially. I deviated slightly from the classic recipe, which is just eggs, bacon, and cream in a pastry case, and added some goats cheese (I couldn't resist it when I found it in the supermarket today) and some fresh thyme. Of course it wasn't until I had levered it out of the pan and onto a serving plate that I realised that I should have left it where it was for reheating, but I got it back into the pan okay, so everything is hunky-dory. I'll take the salad ingredients with me and make it when I get to the old home town, so all I need to do now is finish doing my laundry and drag myself to bed so I can get up early enough to drive there by lunch time.

However I seem to have done nothing nothing but cook and do laundry all night. It's Saturday, which is towel day, and I also changed the sheets on my bed and for some reason I had an enormous pile of clothes to wash. I'm only one person, and despite appearances my wardrobe isn't that extensive. How do I always end up with so much stuff in the hamper?

OMG, Independence Day is a silly movie. Good fun, but such a silly movie. The faux St Crispin's Day speech never fails to amuse, and for some reason I always get a kick out of Data Brent Spiner whispering 'Release me' while he's being strangled by the alien. Yes, I can be a sick puppy at times. So sue me!

Supernatural folks on my flist, you have to read this! In From The Cold by [livejournal.com profile] ladyjanelly, a J2 AU RPS wherein EMT 'Jared Padalecki' meets damaged homeless guy 'Jensen Ackles' and heartache, love, loss and schmoop ensues. It's a really great read and [livejournal.com profile] ladyjanelly has constructed a wonderful universe where everyone is recognizable as themselves and yet completely independent characters outside of the 'real life' aspect. It gets a little dark in a couple of spots, particularly in the scenes involving 'Jeff Morgan', but the ending is just awww, and for god's sake, just go read it already!

Okay, the last load of laundry is done. I am now off to bed.

Goodnight!
