Oh lord, Political Animals isn't even due to start screening for another two weeks or so - in fact last I heard they were still filming it, even - but people are already starting to write fic. I guess that's what happens when you have Sebastian Stan playing T.J. Hammond, the musically gifted, gay, substance abusing son of a former US President. Oh the angst! Oh the pretty! Tumblr is currently awash with him kissing boys and encouraging his grandmother to start cocktail hour at noon. How could you not want to write about that?

Firstly there's These Ties That Bind by [livejournal.com profile] antiquitea, a lovely bit of H/C wherein T.J.'s twin brother, Doug, can always be relied upon to look after him when he needs him most.

And there's even the cia know better than to fuck with me by [livejournal.com profile] postcardmystery, where T.J. proves that if you mess with him, he'll mess with you and do it ten times better than you ever could. This one needs a warning for drug use, language, sexual situations and just about adult theme you can think of. But it's good. Really good!

I haven't even seen it yet and lord knows when it's going to be shown in Australia, but it's already my new favourite show. I'm doomed!

♥ I love my boss! When she found out that I hadn't been able to take any of my annual leave for a whole year, she not only gave me the two weeks I just had, she also insisted that I get my leave balance down as much as I can between now and the end of the year. This is why I now have a couple of days off in November for my sister's fortieth birthday, and from December 8th I will be on leave until the 5th of January 2009, woot! \o/

♥ Just when I was bemoaning the fact the my To read file was empty, not only are there now more than fifty ficlets over at [livejournal.com profile] tvm's SPN hurt/comfort meme, but there is suddenly a whole slew of domestic!fic generated by the news that Jared and Jensen are roomies, woot! \o/

♥ Then there's also [livejournal.com profile] eight_horizon's The Gay That It Is (Or: The Gayest Gen Story Ever). Crack at it's most cracktastic, woot! \o/

♥ I've just watched the first episode of Fringe. I think I may have a new fandom, woot! \o/

♥ The day started out with a meeting and I swear to god it was one of the best, most productive meetings I have ever been to. Not only did I have lots to contribute, and get lots of good ideas to take away from it, but I was funny and made people laugh, I had the chance to take on a great professional development/networking opportunity and it ended half an hour early, woot! \o/

♥ The gale-force winds of earlier in the week have died down, it did not rain today and I remembered to buy milk on my way home from work, woot! \o/

♥ And finally, the new season of Supernatural starts tomorrow, woot! \o/

It's Fandom Appreciation Week, as organised by the lovely [livejournal.com profile] china_shop, and today's challenge is rec three stories that are more that six months old. Well, says I, I can do that quite easily!

*dives into del.icio.us bookmarks*

One of my most favourite stories from the last few months would have to be Wee Three Penguins or How Ernest, Roald and Fabian met The Wolf and The Turtle by [livejournal.com profile] lamentables, due South, F/K rated S for schmoop as we shared the story of three brave penguins and their quest to find The Wolf and The Turtle. It's the most adorable penguin story you could ever want to read, plus there's Dief! And Ray! And Fraser! And penguins, OMG!!

Next on the list is a little story that has come out of that mighty big fandom, Supernatural. A Scrubs/SPN crossover, My Supernatural Smackdown by [livejournal.com profile] eighth_horizon, rated G for gen, is laugh-out-loud hilarious! When JD encounters a mystery patient called 'Nick' and his cantankerous brother 'Jason' he has no idea the night will end in vampires, beheadings and yet another lecture from Dr Cox. All in a nights' work, really.

My final rec is another crossover, and an obvious one given that Peter Krause starred in both Sports Night and Six Feet Under. In Ignorance is a Thing to be Envied by [livejournal.com profile] mardia, Claire Fisher meets Casey McCall and Dan Rydell in a bar and for a little while her new world is tilted sideways as she tries to fathom this stranger with her her dead brothers' face.

I'm home and too tired to talk about my trip - which wasn't that great anyway - so I'm giving you a fic rec instead. Because your life was always lacking that Supernatural/Discworld crossover fic, wasn't it?

And All But He Departed by [livejournal.com profile] kellifer_fic, SPN/Discworld rated G, wherein Death makes Sam Winchester an offer he probably can't refuse.
