Today's Fandom Appreciation challenge is rec three fanish art/multi-media which isn't that easy for me because I tend to stick to fic and picspam and ignore vids/art. But I have run across a few vids over the years that I really love and that I often turn to when I need a reminder of what fandom is all about.

First and foremost is my absolutely favourite due South vid by Shalott ([livejournal.com profile] astolat). Zebra manages to do what so few fics or vids have done: capture the pure essence of Ray Kowalski. Ray is a friend and lover; he's a fighter, an obnoxious snot and the guy you want at your back when the chips are down. He panics over the little things and takes the big disasters in his stride. He's fiercely loyal and often irritating, but you wouldn't want it any other way and this vid conveys all that and more. Also, extra brownie points have to come from this Aussie for using a song by The John Butler Trio *g*

Next up is Would You Be so Hot (If You Weren't Dead?) by [livejournal.com profile] heuradys. Tackling the supremely dysfunctional relationship between Joe and Billy in Hard Core Logo, the music and lyrics by The Damned works to illustrated how much these two people love each other and how that love is working to destroy them both. Of course we all know how it ends (Or does it? We are soon to find out ;~) and [livejournal.com profile] heuradys' judiciously chosen clips make this a very moving vid.

Finally there's Can't Stop This by [livejournal.com profile] voiceless009, the cutest little F/K vid I've ever seen. Here Fraser and Ray are all adorable and fumbly-bumbly as they try and fail to ignore that fact that there's something more that friendship between them. This vid would have to win the aware for the most judicious use of a mens' room door, while No Sleep Tonight by The Faders is the sort of song you just want to sing out loud to each and every time.

It's Fandom Appreciation Week, as organised by the lovely [livejournal.com profile] china_shop, and today's challenge is rec three stories that are more that six months old. Well, says I, I can do that quite easily!

*dives into del.icio.us bookmarks*

One of my most favourite stories from the last few months would have to be Wee Three Penguins or How Ernest, Roald and Fabian met The Wolf and The Turtle by [livejournal.com profile] lamentables, due South, F/K rated S for schmoop as we shared the story of three brave penguins and their quest to find The Wolf and The Turtle. It's the most adorable penguin story you could ever want to read, plus there's Dief! And Ray! And Fraser! And penguins, OMG!!

Next on the list is a little story that has come out of that mighty big fandom, Supernatural. A Scrubs/SPN crossover, My Supernatural Smackdown by [livejournal.com profile] eighth_horizon, rated G for gen, is laugh-out-loud hilarious! When JD encounters a mystery patient called 'Nick' and his cantankerous brother 'Jason' he has no idea the night will end in vampires, beheadings and yet another lecture from Dr Cox. All in a nights' work, really.

My final rec is another crossover, and an obvious one given that Peter Krause starred in both Sports Night and Six Feet Under. In Ignorance is a Thing to be Envied by [livejournal.com profile] mardia, Claire Fisher meets Casey McCall and Dan Rydell in a bar and for a little while her new world is tilted sideways as she tries to fathom this stranger with her her dead brothers' face.
