Today's Fandom Appreciation challenge is rec three fanish art/multi-media which isn't that easy for me because I tend to stick to fic and picspam and ignore vids/art. But I have run across a few vids over the years that I really love and that I often turn to when I need a reminder of what fandom is all about.

First and foremost is my absolutely favourite due South vid by Shalott ([livejournal.com profile] astolat). Zebra manages to do what so few fics or vids have done: capture the pure essence of Ray Kowalski. Ray is a friend and lover; he's a fighter, an obnoxious snot and the guy you want at your back when the chips are down. He panics over the little things and takes the big disasters in his stride. He's fiercely loyal and often irritating, but you wouldn't want it any other way and this vid conveys all that and more. Also, extra brownie points have to come from this Aussie for using a song by The John Butler Trio *g*

Next up is Would You Be so Hot (If You Weren't Dead?) by [livejournal.com profile] heuradys. Tackling the supremely dysfunctional relationship between Joe and Billy in Hard Core Logo, the music and lyrics by The Damned works to illustrated how much these two people love each other and how that love is working to destroy them both. Of course we all know how it ends (Or does it? We are soon to find out ;~) and [livejournal.com profile] heuradys' judiciously chosen clips make this a very moving vid.

Finally there's Can't Stop This by [livejournal.com profile] voiceless009, the cutest little F/K vid I've ever seen. Here Fraser and Ray are all adorable and fumbly-bumbly as they try and fail to ignore that fact that there's something more that friendship between them. This vid would have to win the aware for the most judicious use of a mens' room door, while No Sleep Tonight by The Faders is the sort of song you just want to sing out loud to each and every time.

I'm feeling a bit poorly today so I've taken the day off work. Sort of, if checking one's work email at home while wearing pyjamas counts as work. Mostly I've just been sitting on the couch, watching the 'educational' programs on ABC, reading Supernatural fic, laughing at the idiocy of the SPN board at IMDB and trawling around looking at reports of Jared's recent visit to down under (question: is his 'I lost my undies' face as cute as his 'I lost my shoe' face? One would like to think so *g*)

I must to be getting dressed, though. I have to get a few things at the supermarket, and now I have shes on my mind. Just to look at, mind you. Not to buy. Well, maybe not to buy...

*shifty eyes*

When is the new X-Files movie coming out? I want to see me some Callum on the big screen. I'm all hypped up since the HCL chat the other day and now I wants my CKR and I wants it now!

Oh look, [livejournal.com profile] out_there just posted new Jack/Ianto fic!

*grabby hands*

ETA: I seem to have accidentally written comment fic in [livejournal.com profile] scriggle's journal: Billy Tallent isn't the man he used to be. Warning! The post contains spoilers for future eps of Californication.

Gah, lady pains. Why do you irk me so?

The day started out swimmingly with a morning chat and viewing session of Hard Core Logo for [livejournal.com profile] out_of_con_txt. Oh Joe and Billy, how I do love your completely fucked-up relationship. And John Oxenberger, you do so break my heart. And Pipefitter, such an obnoxious man-child and yet so adorable. Many many thanks go out to [livejournal.com profile] sageness for organising it and helping to perpetuate the squee.

I bought some flowers for the living room the other day. A lovely bunch of pink gladioli accented by banana leaves. They didn't seem that big when I paid for them; it was only when I realised that they took up the entire backseat of my car that I thought, 'Oh my, they are rather tall, aren't they?' I have to be careful answering the phone at the moment because I run the risk of poke my eye out with a glad if I'm not. But they're quite pretty.

See! )

In more fun news my afternoon has been spent folding laundry and picking up a few odds and ends at the supermarket that I messed yesterday. I also discovered that when I went to transfer money out of my savings account and into my spending account to pay for my ticket to Mile High, I did exactly the opposite which meant that at one stage I was $60 overdrawn at the bank, who of course then slugged me with a $25 administration fee for being so. Not something I wanted to happen when I'm currently feeling the fiscal pinch :~(

There's new Supernatural tonight *bounces* but they seem to be taking a break from posting on [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang for the weekend, which is okay because I've got at least three fics to catch up on, as well as feedback to leave for the ones I have read. In fact, I think I'll go do that now.

*toddles off*

Do you know what I find bizarre? That John Pyper-Ferguson was born in Mordialloc! How on earth did he get from the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne to Hard Core Logo?
