/o\ My bike has been a bitch to ride lately and going up hill has been an exercise in pure torture. So I took it into the bike shop during the week and it turned out that I needed a new chain and rear wheel cassette. Since they've been replaced riding it is once again a joy \o/

/o\ One of the discs in my new Supernatural box set is scratched, only I didn't notice until I started watching them today. I got in touch with amazon.com and they are sending my a replacement set ASAP \o/

/o\ I spent large amounts of money on a stylish new bag last week and have been living as frugally as possible ever since. However, when I checked my bank account today, I found out that I had more money than I realised and will probably even have some left over by pay day which is one Friday \o/

/o\ My toilet inexplicably blocked up today. So I went to Bunnings, bought a plunger and then, in the words of Geoffrey Tennant, I fixed the toilet \o/

Finally, just a quick etiquette question: Is it rude to keep using an icon that a former LJ friend made for you after you have defriended them?

I saw someone post a similar poll just recently and it piqued my interest. Because over the years I've jumped from fandom to fandom; friends have been made and lost and sometimes found again. Some come and go in a short space of time, while others have hung around for the long haul. Therefore...

ETA: I had to re-jig the poll so if you've already voted I may have deleted that one so you'll need to do it again.

Eeeeeee, David Tennant is the guest on tonight's episode of Who Do You Think You Are on SBS. He's so adorable with his real accent, his scruffy beard and his jeans, OMG!

Anyone who reads this journal on a regular basis knows how much I hate doing the dishes. Of all the household chores doing the dishes is the one I despise the most. In fact, I'd rather clean the toilet than do the dishes, that's how much it hate doing them.

However while I was on my LJ hiatus I forced myself to get into the habit of doing them every night. And now it's gotten to the point where I hate waking up to a messy kitchen so I will actually do them to avoid the cringe factor in the morning. I'll never be one of these people who cleans up as they go along, nor will I do them more than once a day. But aside from on or two misses, I am doing them every day and for me that's a wee victory if ever there was one!

As expected, the results of my little poll from last night show that the majority of the people on my flist came via Sports Night. There's a number from due South and related Canadian fandoms, three from Harsh Realm, which harks back to my earliest days in online fandom, and a couple from Supernatural. But no one from Buffy the Vampire Slayer or The West Wing which actually doesn't surprise me because, aside from posting a couple of fics, I was never very involved with either fandom at all.

Now I'm wondering how many respondents have moved onto new things since they initially came to LJ. Although it was Sports Night that brought me to LiveJournal, I wouldn't count it as my primary fandom any more, with Supernatural having overtaken most of my interest of late. However I do still consider myself part of the SN fandom, as well as due South, The West Wing, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Harsh Realm, even though it's been nearly a decade since I wrote my last HR fic. For some people it seems to be easy to move from fandom to fandom, dropping one as another takes their interest and then dropping that when the next 'Oh Shiny!' comes along. On the other hand I don't think I ever truly leave a fandom. I may drop down to being a lurker at best, but I still count myself as being 'in the fandom' even if my thoughts have move from Pinocchio and Tom to Sam 'n' Dean.

Now I'm curious to hear other peoples' thoughts/opionions on the subject. Do you move on from a fandom completely? Or do you find yourself continuing to linger on the outskirts even if your attention is mostly elsewhere? Can you be considered as being in a particular fandom even if your activity is next to nothing? Where does one end and the other start? And with the interwebs the way it is, can one really move on at all?
