/o\ My bike has been a bitch to ride lately and going up hill has been an exercise in pure torture. So I took it into the bike shop during the week and it turned out that I needed a new chain and rear wheel cassette. Since they've been replaced riding it is once again a joy \o/

/o\ One of the discs in my new Supernatural box set is scratched, only I didn't notice until I started watching them today. I got in touch with amazon.com and they are sending my a replacement set ASAP \o/

/o\ I spent large amounts of money on a stylish new bag last week and have been living as frugally as possible ever since. However, when I checked my bank account today, I found out that I had more money than I realised and will probably even have some left over by pay day which is one Friday \o/

/o\ My toilet inexplicably blocked up today. So I went to Bunnings, bought a plunger and then, in the words of Geoffrey Tennant, I fixed the toilet \o/

Finally, just a quick etiquette question: Is it rude to keep using an icon that a former LJ friend made for you after you have defriended them?

\o/ x 4 + 1 x congratulations but ew.

In answer to your question, I'm not sure. It might be. I suppose it might also depend on why you defriended them. I know I had to stop using my rather lovely Danny/neck icon after the person who made it defriended me - that was during the Great Defriending Frenzy a couple of years back - because it upset me, but that's me, and I am possibly overly thin-skinned.

I don't think there was any animosity in the defriending. We weren't particularly close and if we had been I'd have kept her on my flist. And I do really like this particular icon so I'd hate to stop using it. We only have one friend in common so I'll just have to remember not to use the icon if I leave comment in that journal!

Personally, I don't think it is rude to keep using the icon. I mean, I am assuming that it was a gift and in RL, it would be INSANELY rude for someone to ask for a gift back once you stop being friends. Also, unless the circumstances of the defriending were filled with drama and tension, if it were me and I had made the icon for a former friend, it would make me feel happy that they liked it enough to keep using it. Kind of like my skills as an icon maker had been validated, you know?

*hugs* Congrats on the toilet fixing! The plunger is actually my favorite bit of home maintenance supplies, so also YAY for the acquisition of a plunger! *g*

It wasn't a big bust up or anything. Just a case of what ever shared interest that had us as friends to begin with had faded and it had gotten to the point where we weren't interacting at all. I had to make a decision to make my flist a little easier to cope with given my limited time and so...

re. the icon, I don't think it is rude. I agree with [livejournal.com profile] sansets - it's a gift, and you don't demand that friends stop using the gifts you give them after you're not friends anymore.

Speaking personally, if you ever did defriend me (heaven forfend) I'd prefer you kept using any icons I'd made for you, because otherwise what was the point of making them?
