Mmm, shoes...

*is jealous of your shoe buying ability given I'm going through voluntary abstinence from shopping*

Huh. It's an addiction. I have a couple of dresses on watch too, now. "Stop it! Hyacinth will do fine for the wedding, and no-one's going to be looking at you anyway!"

(That's what my mother used to say, btw, when I did my hair up, or put make-up on, or dressed up for a night out. "Who do you think's going to be looking at you?!" Honestly, where do mothers get these things?)

My mother would always give my going out outfits the once over, pause, and then say, "Well, it's very you." I've never been quite sure if it was an insult or a compliment.

One of the best lines in The OC was in the first episode, when Julie Cooper looked at her rake-thin twiglet daughter and said "I thought you were going to wear the Donna Karan, it's so forgiving!" Yup, I thought, that writer has Known A Mother's Love.

God bless our mothers. What would we do without them?
