poached, not fried, with bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes and sourdough thanks!
There's a very amusing post about poached eggs over at
melbournemaniac today. Apparently finding a decent poached egg is harder than one might imagine in a city renowned for its cafes and its love affair with the Big Breakfast. This then led to The Breakfast Blog, or one man's search for the perfect breakfast and his opinion thereof of various Melbourne eating establishment that claim to serve great eggs.
I am so easily amused.
In other news the weather has cooled down somewhat, however apparently its back to sweltering later in the week with the temperature expected to get to 40C and 41C on Thursday and Friday respectively. Guess I won't be riding my bike to work those days, will I?
The nephew has decided that he wants a fireman themed party for his upcoming 4th birthday and I have to make him a fire engine cake. Of course the fact that I made him a fire engine cake last year is immaterial, because when you're going on four and you're having a fireman-themed birthday party, you've got to have a fire engine cake as well!
Oh god, now all those breakfast reviews has made me hungry!

(I couldn't eat poached eggs at all as a kid, they made me sick, but I have got over that. Though I do have to use an egg poacher, I still can't deal if they're just dropped into boiling water.)
Why would you not want a fireman party and a fire engine cake if you are 4? Or 5 or 6 or 7, come to that.
Also: ♥. I said that before, but it bears repeating.

I was looking at some cute bundles of fluff in the pet shop yesterday, but managed to abstain. Although I suppose a kitten would potentially relieve me of my other (unwlecome) house guest.
