I had a date with a bottle of hair dye last night. My hair is now very red. Well, redder than usual.

I have this urge to drive out to Elsternwick and buy bagels from Glick's. I could go to the bagel shop near my gym in Fitzroy, but I still haven't forgiven them for discontinuing my favourite bagel (egg and chive) and the ones at Glick's come in all sorts of pretty shapes. Plus, I can get their yummy egg and salad bagel for lunch!

I've nearly run out of West Wing episodes to watch. Sort of. I have seasons one, six and seven at home, and my sister and the B-I-L have everything else in between. In the old home town. Only they've gone away for the long weekend so I can't even zip up for a quick visit and retrieve the ones they've finished with. They also have my My Life as a Dog DVDs and some of my Buffy DVDs, while Best Work Friend has some of my Angel DVDs. I do have to finish watching the third season of Angel, and I could also watch Supernatural or due South, but dammit I really want to the going with The West Wing!

I suppose I could always do housework. Or not. Cos really, it's a long weekend!

So, riding my bike through a hail storm: both cold AND painful. Also wet. But mostly cold and painful.

Somehow I managed to break a tooth while eating a rice cracker at a party on the weekend, so guess who's going to the dentist tomorrow? A great way to start my two weeks off. But I managed to get to gym for the first time in three weeks, and I found some fabulous material at Darn Cheap Fabrics to make a dress and a skirt. Also, the bean and potato soup I just made is to die for!

I've also been watching Buffy season seven. I'm finding that it started out well, lost it's way a little in the middle, but the last few episodes are beautifully painful, especially after Nathan Fillion joined the cast and The Mayor turned up to torment Faith.

I still don't know what's happening with my car, but I suspect it's going to be expensive. Meanwhile I've slipped back into the no car routine I had going before I bought Delia with surprising ease and I'm beginning to think that I don't really want her back after all. Except for when I have to ride home in a hail storm, that is.

God, D.B. Woodside is gorgeous! And I just burnt my tongue on the soup.

Mmm, soup...

ETA: I just got a call from mum. She's not very well and wants me to come up to the old home town to stay with her for a few days. I was going to go up on Friday anyway, so being the good daughter that I am I'll head up little earlier. However I'm not going until Wednesday because I've got the dentist tomorrow and I will not be in the mood for train travel after that :~\

I have just discovered that Jensen Ackles spent several weeks in Melbourne back in 2001 while he worked on some terrible TV movie about Marilyn Monroe. Am now feeling strangely deprived of my chance to stalk him despite the fact that back then I had no idea who he was.

I've given up on Buffy for the moment and have moved on to Sports Night. It was just too depressing and it was affecting my ability to concentrate on my essay. I'm having a hard enough time working on it as it is without the extra added bonus of all the Buffy angst to bring me down. Dan threatening Casey with Frere Jacques for his birthday beats gloomy-doomy Buffy any day.

Ironically, though, after watching Doublemeat Palace I had this huge craving for a hamburger. Weird, yeah, but my mind does often move in mysterious ways. Because it's a public holiday here I had to ride to three different fish and chip shops until I found one that was open because I refuse to go to McDonalds, and I eventually ended up at the one near my place that has just changed hands. The shop looks really good now they've gotten rid of the rusty old drinks fridge and repainted it. The burger wasn't too bad, although it needed more sauce and they left out the tomato, but it filled a spot and the coffee I bought at Degani before I got the hamburger was the best one I'd drunk in ages!

And now for your viewing pleasure, here's a couple of pictures of the roses I bought while I was out this afternoon. They're quite pretty, don't you think?

see the pretty! )

Fic rec! First Kiss by [livejournal.com profile] minnow1212, Sports Night/due South crossover. On a visit to Chicago Dan Rydell meets a Mountie from Canada. I love it when my fandoms collide *g*

Meh, better get back to the essay I guess.

BTW, if anyone can guess which SN episode my subject line came from, you get a shiny gold star from me!

Wow, I'd forgotten how depressing season six of Buffy was. Angst angst angst everywhere. It's like the writers and produces set out to create the biggest angst-fest on the whole planet! To whit:

Cut for spoilers just in case... )

It's a wonder the whole cast and crew didn't require many hours of therapy after filming that particular season. God knows I'm going to have surround myself with pictures of fluffy bunnies and cute kittens for the next little while just to exorcise all the angst.
